  • Defined Benefit (Pension) Plan

The County offers a defined benefit retirement plan through Utah Retirement Systems (URS). It takes four (4) years to vest with the Utah Retirement System. Employees hired with the County before July 1, 2011 are in the Tier 1 Pension Plan.  Employees hired on or after July 1, 2011, are in the Tier 2 Pension Plan.  Details for each plan are available at or by contacting the Utah Retirement Systems at 801-366-7700.

    Deferred Compensation Plans

In addition to the defined benefit retirement plan, employees may invest in deferred compensation plans like 401K, 457, Roth IRA or Traditional IRA savings plans.

Employees have the option of deferring income for retirement into either a qualified tax-deferred 457 or 401(k) plan offered through Utah Retirement Systems (URS) or Nationwide, which provides a 457 plan through the National Association of Counties.
